“This Too Shall Pass,” Yolanda Adams
“Salvation For Others,” Isaiah 56:3) Neither Let the son Of A Stranger, That Hath Joined himself To THE LORD, Speak, Saying, THE LORD Hath Utterly Separated me From HIS People: Neither Let The Eunuch Say, Behold, I am A Dry Tree. Deuteronomy 23:1; Acts 8:27; 1 Peter 1:1. 4) For Thus SAITH THE LORD Unto The Eunuchs That keep MY Sabbaths, And Choose The Things That Please ME, And Take Hold Of MY Covenant; 5) Even Unto Them Will I Give In MINE House And Within MY Walls A Place And A Name Better Than Of Sons And Daughters: I Will Give Them An Everlasting Name, That Shall Not Be Cut Off. 6) Also The Sons Of The Stranger, That Join Themselves To THE LORD, TO SERVE HIM, AND TO LOVE THE NAME OF THE LORD, TO BE HIS SERVANTS, Every One That Keepeth The Sabbath From Polluting IT, And Taketh Hold Of MY COVENANT; 7) Even Them Will I Bring To MY HOLY MOUNTAIN, And Make Them JOYFUL IN MY HOUSE OF PRAYER: Their Burnt Offerings And Their Sacrifices Shall Be Accepted UPON MINE ALTAR; FOR MINE HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED AN HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL PEOPLE. Mark 11:17; Malachi 1:11.
Nelson’s Compact Bible Commentary – v3, In speaking of the proselyte who joined himself to The Lord, Isaiah was Prophesying of foreigners who would be converted to The Worship Of The True Lord (see 44;5)(,) and thus be counted among those “born in Zion” (see Psalm 87). v4, 5, eunuchs: Probably some of the male exiles were castrated so that they could serve in the Babylonian and Persian courts (39:7; Daniel 1:3). A Place and a Name may be rephrased as a “Memorial Monument.” For Isaiah, this Memorial is better than that of sons and daughters because It Symbolizes an Everlasting Name, or Everlasting Life In The Temple. v6, 7, House Of Prayer: Inclusion In The Covenant Community Involves Intimate Communication With God. For All Nations: People of other nations who came to a Living Faith In God were met with a Joyful Welcome.
Quest Study Bible – v3, “How would having heirs encourage Spiritual Commitment?” The Hebrew people thought of having children as a Sign Of God’s Blessing. No children, then, indicated No Blessing From God. See “Who is the barren women?” (54:1-6). This may have been at least part of the reason why eunuchs, who were unable to father children, were not allowed to enter The Temple. Their unblessed condition would pollute The Temple. But The Lord Here Promises Blessings To Even Eunuchs. They Too Will Be Allowed To Come Into His Presence (vv. 4-5). Also see “Does God Discriminate?” Deuteronomy 23:1. “23:1) He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into The Congregation Of The Lord. 2) A bastard shall not enter into The Congregation Of The Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into The Congregation Of The Lord. 3) An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into The Congregation Of The Lord; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into The Congregation Of The Lord For Ever: 4) Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee. Isaiah 63:9.” v7, “My Holy Mountain” Refers to Jerusalem, specifically Mount Zion, where The Temple was located. This Promised Access To The Lord to those that had formerly been excluded. Amen.
Matthew Henry’s Concise Bible Commentary – v3-8, Unbelief Often Suggests Things To Discourage Believers, Against Which God Has Expressly Guarded. Spiritual Blessings Are Unspeakably Better Than Having Sons And Daughters; For Children Are A Care, And May Prove A Grief And Shame, But The Blessings We Partake Of In God’s House, Are Comforts Which Cannot Be Made Bitter. Those Who Love The Lord Truly, Will Serve Him Faithfully, And Then His Commandments Are Not Grievous. THREE THINGS ARE PROMISED. ASSISTANCE: I Will Not Only Bid Them Welcome, But Incline Them To Come. ACCEPTANCE And COMFORT, Though They Came Mourning To The House Of Prayer, They Shall Go Away Rejoicing. They Shall Find Ease By Casting Their Cares And Burdens Upon GOD. Many A Sorrowful Spirit Has Been Made Joyful In The House Of Prayer. The Gentiles Shall Now Be One Body With The Jews, That, As CHRIST Says, John 10:16, There May Be One Fold And One SHEPHERD. Thanks Be To GOD That None Are Separated From HIM Except By Willful Sin And Unbelief; And If We Come To HIM, We Shall Be Accepted Through THE SACRIFICE OF OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST (JESUS THE CHRIST). Amen And Thank God.
