“JESUS PREDICTS PETER’S DENIAL,” lll, Matthew 26:31) Then Saith Jesus Unto Them, All Ye Shall Be Offended Because Of Me This Night:  For It Is Written, I Will Smite THE SHEPHERD, And The Sheep Of The Flock Shall Be Scattered Abroad.  32) But AFTER I AM RISEN AGAIN, I Will Go Before You Into Galilee.  Matthew 28:7; Mark 16:7.  33) Peter answered and said Unto Him, Though all men shall be Offended Because Of Thee, yet will I never be Offended.  34) Jesus Said Unto him, Verily I Say Unto Thee, That This Night, Before The Cock Crow, Thou Shalt Deny Me Thrice.  Luke 22:34.  35) Peter said Unto Him, Though I should die with Thee, yet will I not deny Thee.  Likewise also said all the Disciples.

Nelson’s Compact Bible Commentary – v31, 32, All Of You Will … Stumble (Be Scattered):  All of the Disciples, not just Peter, would fall away.  I Will Strike The Shepherd … The Flock Will Be Scattered.  This Prophecy Is Found In Zachariah 13:7.  v33-35, The rooster crow is usually thought to refer to the third Roman watch, from midnight to 3 A.M.

Quest Study Bible – v31-35, SCRIPTURE LINK,  Mark writes about Jesus’ Prediction Of Peter’s Denial in Mark 14:27-31.  Luke tells about in Luke 22:31-34.

Matthew Henry’s Concise Bible Commentary – v31-35, Improper Self-Confidence, Like That Of Peter, Is The First Step To A Fall.  There Is A Proneness In All Of Us To Be Over-Confident.  But Those Fall Soonest And Foulest, Who Are The Most Confident In Themselves.  Those Are Least Safe, Who Think Themselves Most Secure.  Satan Is Active To Lead Such Astray, They Are Most Off Their Guard.  God Leaves Them To Themselves, To Humble Them.
