“Nobody Like You Lord,” Maranda Willis. (See Maranda Willis Leads Powerful Worship in Phoenix and First Baptist Church of Glenarden).
“The Helper of Israel,” Isaiah 41:1) Keep Silence Before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: Let Us Come Near Together To Judgment. 2) Who Raised Up The Righteous man From The East, Called him to His Foot, Gave the nations before him, and Made him rule over kings? He gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow. Isaiah 46:11. 3) He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet. 4) Who Hath Wrought And Done It, Calling The Generations From The Beginning? I The Lord, The First, And With The Last; I Am He. Acts 15:18; Revelation 1:11, 17. 5) The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came. 6) They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage. 7) So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved. 8) But thou, Israel, Art My Servant, Jacob whom I Have Chosen, the seed of Abraham My friend. 2 Chronicles 20:7; Nehemiah 9:7. 9) Thou whom I Have Taken From The Ends Of The Earth, and Called thee from the chief men thereof, and Said unto thee, Thou Art My Servant; I Have Chosen thee, And Not Cast thee Away.
Nelson’s Compact Bible Commentary – v1, Keep silence: Divine Calls for silence usually anticipate Judgment (Zephaniah 1:7). Renew their strength contrasts strength that results from Faith with unassisted human strength. v2, One from the east refers to Cyrus, king of Persia. God, Who Has Authority Over The Nations, gave the nations as a ransom for Israel (43:3). v3, Cyrus advanced so fast it was though his feet did not touch the ground. v4, first … last: The Lord Is Eternal Not Only In That He Is Not Bound By Time, But Also In That He Is Master Of Time. v5, The pronoun it refers to the conquests of Cyrus (vv. 2, 3). v6, 7 This verse satirizes (mocks) assistance from idols in contrast to The Sure Help From The Living God (vv. 10-16). v8, Servant refers to one Highly Honored By The Lord. In chs. 40-50, the title of servant is bestowed implicitly (totally) on Cyrus (45:1-4) and explicitly (No Room For Doubt) on God’s Prophets (44:26), the nation of Israel (44:21; 45:4) And Particularly (Higher Degree) On The Lord Jesus Christ (42:1-4, 52:13). v9, The Ends Of The Earth Indicates God’s Sovereign Rule Over The Earth (v. 4).
Quest Study Bible – v2, “One from the east,” Cyrus the great, ruler of Persia, from the area of modern-day Iran. This would be not only east of Israel, but somewhat east of Babylon, where the Jews languished in exile before Cyrus came to power (see Setting of Esther on page 666). His Persians conquered the Babylonians in 539 B. C. and he later allowed the Jews to return to their homeland. v7, “Why talk about those who make idols?” In a world where people worshiped many different deities, God Regularly Asked His People To Compare The One True God With The False Gods (see 1 Kings 18:16-45, for example). Here we see the whole world trembling in response to God’s Mighty Actions (v. 5). But Instead Of Turning To The True God, the idolmakers try to console each other — and even try to anchor their idols so that they will not be shaken by God’s Shock Waves.
Matthew Henry’s Concise Bible Commentary – v1-9, Can any heathen god raise up one in Righteousness, make what use of him he pleases, and make him victorious over the nations? The Lord Did So With Abraham, or rather He , He Would Do So With Cyrus. Sinners encourage one another in the ways of sin, shall not the servants of The Living God stir up one another in His Service? God’s People are the seed of Abraham His Friend. This is certainly the highest tile ever given to a mortal. It means that Abraham, By Divine Grace, was made like to God, and that he was admitted to Communion With Him. Happy are the servants of The Lord, whom He has Called to be His Friends, and to Walk With Him In Faith And Holy Obedience. Let not such as have thus been favored yield to Fear; for the contest may be sharp, But The Victory Shall Be Sure.
